This takes place after The Hunger Games, beginning before the Tour in Catching Fire. Gale and Katniss go hunting and he sees just how deep her wounds are. They decide that no matter what, once the Tour is over they are leaving District 12.

Modern universe. Gale and Katniss are just average people. They've become more than friends after a hunting trip. The both of them work, though Katniss attempts going to college, while Gale works full time and tries to indulge some studies but finds responsibility some times comes first. Life goes on as usual.

Based on the book with the same name by Agnes Humbert, this is a World War II alternate universe wherein Katniss took up the job of a nurse (albeit a queasy one) while Gale is a French soldier with an in on the underground. He's injured on the eve of the Nazi invasion of France, and Katniss goes in his stead. Simply doing what they must to survive.
